If you want my guess, you headline is read by 10 times more people than those who actually read your ad copy. For people to be interested in reading your ad copy, they first must be engaged in your ad headline.
Here are a few tips to make your headlines effective and engaging.
1. Sell your product.
Don't be afraid to sell your product in your headline. Headlines are great for giving 1 keyword, and 1 sales word. For example, "Cheap Widgets". "Cheap" is the sales word, and "Widgets" would be the keyword.
2. Don't be clever.
Cleverness is wasted in your headline. Save that for your website. People aren't really reading your headline, they are scanning. If you use puns or anything else that people don't really read, you'll lose visitors quickly.
3. Avoid negative words.
Headlines that inspire people to click use positive words. Instead of saying, "No Preservatives Added", try saying "100% Pure Jelly".
Using these three tips in your ad headlines can take your campaign from decent to excellent. Try them out and let me know how it works!
