Jason asks a question that references a relatively old affiliate niche, but one that is changing names and regaining steam.
PPA (as opposed to PPC) means Pay Per Action. This means that you only pay when the desired action happens. With PPC you pay for every click, regardless of whether that visitors hits the back button or buys your product or service.
PPA has both upsides and downsides when compared to PPC. First of all, it is going to be more expensive. Since you are only paying per action, you will spend more per visitor. Secondly you will be able to easily guage the amount of sales you want to buy.
So in regard to the question, "What effect will PPA advertising have on the PPC market?" I would have to say that PPA will not hurt the PPC market nor will it help the PPC market. I think PPA is a little too unique to be lumped into the PPC world.
Stats will have to be calculated completely separate. Program campaigns will have to be set up independently, ads will have different wording.
To me it is like saying how will Adsense effect the affiliate market? I don't think they are similar enough to help or hurt each other.
The only caveat to that is that PPA can help increase awareness in the PPC arena because they do have a similar function (increase sales) and have a similar acronym.
Thanks for the question Jason!
