Just wanted to welcome myself back. Last week was the busiest week of the year for me. Teachers and students all across the nation began school and for me, that means additional work.
Thankfully I have learned two lessons that directly relate to PPC.
1. Teachers are crazy.
Crazy, like Jack Nicholson crazy. The way that relates is that people in general can be crazy. I know that from selling cars for years. People would come in without any plan to buy a car, and drive ome in a new car. Crazy! Ok, the way it relates to PPC is that if you sell a product, you can make people emotial about that product.
If you can create an emotion, good, bad, or otherwise, you can turn that into a reason to buy. For example (I love examples!) I saw an ad for a 42" plasma screen that said, "Want to relax? Let us help." That made me want to relax, the idea of sitting at home watching a movie instead of being at the store with hundreds of other cranky shoppers made me fell relaxed instantly, and emotion is exactly what they wanted, and they got it out of me.
This TV company was able to create an emotion inside of me (relaxation), and turn that into a benefit of buying. If you can create emotion, you can turn it into a reason to buy.
2. If it can be messed up, someone will mess it up.
Like I said, this has been a hectic week for me, and the second thing I learned is that if it can be broken, someone will break it.
I had a computer server that was pretty secure. Apparently some kid found an account from last year that wasn't deleted. He was able to log into my server with that account and move files around.
Thankfully this mongrel didn't delete anything that I know of, he just added a few hours onto my already overtime-ridden week.
This relates to PPC in terms of your landing page and your shopping carts. I don't know how many times I have tried to buy something from a website only to get sick of trying to checkout that I went to Amazon.com and bought it there.
If you have a shopping cart, make sure your customers understand what needs to go in each box, and if boxes are optional, remove them! Make checkout easy and people will have a good memory of you and your company.
Now that last week is over, now is a great time to add the Pay-Per-Click IQ RSS feed to your feed reader and keep an eye on my money-creating tips and tricks!
