No Love From AdWords!
As PPC campaign operators we sometimes find ourselves doing things without thinking.  I ran into this problem today.  In fact, it was more in the area of not knowing what was actually right and what was actually allowed.

I created a campaign.  This campaign was a new campaign mainly designed to test a few theories I had (I'll disclose in the next few weeks after my testing), and wanted a fresh campaign.

This campaign had 1 keyword and went through one of my sites (with a redirect) to an affiliate site at AzoogleAds.  The problem apparently was that AdWords does not allow this.  I didn't know that and I created the campaign.  My campaign was set up with a $.50 CPC and I got about 15 clicks (no sales unfortunately) before the AdWords team shut me down.

I emailed them asking for clarification because the email I got was generic and said, "Thank you for advertising with Google AdWords. After reviewing your
account, we've found that one or more of your ads or keywords does not
meet our guidelines. You can see your disapproved ad(s), the reason for
disapproval, and editorial suggestions, from the Disapproved Ads page
within your account."

Well, further down on the page I read this, "Ad Status: Suspended - Pending Revision
Ad Issue(s): Inaccurate Display URL."

Then this, "POLICY DEFINITIONS:

Inaccurate Display URL: Your Display URL must accurately reflect the
URL of your website; it must be a viable web address that is part of
your ad's destination domain and include the domain extension, for
example: .com, .net, or .org. If your Destination URL is too long for
your ad, please use a shortened version, such as your homepage, that
meets the character limit for this field. Please check your spelling
and symbols for accuracy, and be sure your Display URL does not contain
an extraneous 'http://' or 'https://'."

The key text here is the, "it must be a viable web address that is part of
your ad's destination domain" from my assumption.  From the looks of it, my domain isn't part of the destination since the user is just redirected through my site.

However, the question I have for the AdWords team is, "Why can some people do it, but I can't?"

I have seen many campaigns set up that go straight to an affiliate, or redirect to a 3rd site.  Why do my campaigns (yes, multiple campaigns) get shutdown?

Anyone have an answer?  Any AdWords reps reading this?  I'll take an anonymous comment or an email if you'd prefer! Email me at brandonchopkins@gmail.com (see I use all of your services including AdWords and Adsense) or post a comment below.
