Time Sensitive Bidding: The World Cup 2006
Everyone can create an ad that runs indefinitely.  However, most people will never think to create an ad that has an expiration date.  If you have a excess abundance of a product, you would want to advertise until that product is completely sold out.

However, if you are advertising for a time sensitive event, you'll want to stop your advertising as soon as the event is over, and the buzz has died down.

The World Cup is extrememly popular right now and ends tomorrow.  If I wanted to maximize my World Cup visitors, I would have started my campaign months ago, and would probably end next week, or when the traffic has died down.

With this method you can easily launch your site or products to the top for a set amount of time.  You might have to pay more since other advertisers also want this traffic, but if you have the margin to do it, go for it.  Especially since the World Cup buzz isn't around every 6 months.world cup search phrases.jpg
