Finding 1 Cent Clicks on AdWords
Brad Geddes at eWhisper.net says, "$0.01 Min CPC's Still Available on AdWords".  I decided to take a look and see what kind of minimum CPC's I could find.  I browsed through AzoogleAds and found a new advertiser offering a $500 gift card with Pirates of the Caribbean as the carrot.

Since Pirates is so popular right now I thought I would give it a shot.  I created a new campaign, new Ad Group, added 400 keywords, minimum cost of $0.01 targeting US traffic then started the campaign.

Instantly all of my keywords were disabled due to low bid amounts.

I know Brad knows what he is talking about with PPC so I decided to keep searching for 1 cent clicks.  As I looked, I tried some generic terms like 'baseball' 'research' 'phrase' 'ant' 'future' and a few other weird words I could think of.

I was able to find a few, very few, $0.02 clicks, but absolutely zero 1 cent clicks.

Am I just wrong in this, or are there no 1 cent clicks?  How did Brad find them?  Will they stay at $0.01 for a long time or will they be bumped by AdWords after a short time?

Let me know what you think about 1 cent clicks!

It's difficult to find keywords with bids lower than $0.05 for me now because of new landing page quality requirements :(

Blogther, can you give me an example of a previous keyword that was 1 cent and it now 5 cents?

$0.01 clicks are still possible, particularly with:

1) Established campaigns. Remember, the last 1000 impressions count towards your ad/keyword history
2) Ad groups are heavily optimized (eg, no inactive terms, decent CTR, groups split by click through rate)

For reasons best known to Google, I even get the odd $0.01 click on some very competitive brand names.

Thanks for the comment Richard, I sent you an email about a PPC interview!

BTW Brandon, I didn't get your email. Just realised I'd broken my Wordpress contact form, so nothing was coming through.
