Many people, when setting up campaigns, want the most clicks possible. I am one of them. In an effort to get more clicks, people think that every click is equal, but that is very wrong. Some clicks are better than others. Let me tell you which clicks are the best:
Clicks from your own country are the best.*
*For most affiliates. :)
This is true for most affiliate campaigns and many content sites. If you are looking for a ringtone and you end up at a .co.uk website, I can say that very rarely will someone from the US end up buying the ringtone. Most UK sites won't accept American credit cards, or they don't send ringtones to non-UK phones, or their ringtones aren't compatible with our phones, and the list of possible problems are endless.
So why do people advertise to out of country searchers? Misinformation. A secondary reason is because "All Countries and Territories" is the default setting in AdWords (I'm not sure about Y!SM and adCenter).
The picture below is a screenshot that was taken from one of my campaigns. To edit this setting, select a campaign (you'll have to do this for each campaign) and click "Campaign Settings". On the right side, you'll see "Locations".
From there you can change your settings and save some money on bad clicks!
